Arapahoe Basin: Heroes with hoses

Arapahoe Basin: Heroes with hoses

We were dressed in full gear with firefighters and want to be firefighters and took to the slopes yesterday at Arapahoe Basin Ski Area for 13th Annual Fire Hose Relay Race! Team Evergreen Ski Racers took 5th place with a time of 45.96! Thanks to John for organizing our team and Michelle, Amanda, Alexi for being such great ski racers! We're just a perfect hose toss away from getting to the podium! All of this is for a great cause and being apart is a great honor.

Teams of five race down a slalom-style course while holding a 50-foot fire hose. Participants can either ski or snowboard and each decked out in their firefighter jacket and helmet.

Fire departments from across Colorado team up to participate in a unique slalom-style event. Teams of five firefighters race down a 15-gate slalom course while holding on to 50 feet of fire hose. And you can't miss them - all participants have to dress in their bunker jacket and fire helmet! It was a spectacle for sure, and guests came out to cheer on these awesome men and women as they raise money to benefit the Burn Camps Program at The Children's Hospital of Colorado.

In 2018 the firemen raced and raised $20,000 for the Children's Hospital Colorado Burn Camps Program. It's possible that we raised more this year!
